Boreas Floating Ice Fishing Suit by WindRider

You will typically find this suit priced under $350. It was designed and created by a Minnesota-owned company that started in boat design, so they know something about building things for the water.

Jacket:
  • Double Zipper closure – allows you to keep the gear on, yet open up to keep from overheating
  • 3M thermal insulation to keep you warm. The removable hood even has insulation
  • Storage – Pockets are critical when ice fishing: This jacket has two large internal mesh pockets, a zipper chest pocket, two large external pockets, and hand warmer pockets
  • Large inner mesh pockets to keep those wax worms
  • Internal chest pocket that is accessible without fully opening up your jacket
  • Two D rings to clip your depth finder or forceps
Bib:
  • Padded knees to help you stay warm and dry when you kneel on the ice
  • Adjustable inseams on the bibs
  • A double zipper to your hip allows easy on and off, and you can vent if you overheat
  • Storage – large pockets on the thighs. And a flap that allows you to go through the bibs into your pants pocket
  • Hand warmer pockets on the bibs when a jacket isn’t needed

Nordic Legend Aurora Series

This suit is the most value-priced in this review, priced at $259.99. At Nordic, they say FISH LIKE A LEGEND and look like one! You will stay warm and dry with this Aurora Series suit. On a personal note, when I received my jacket, the sizing seemed small compared to the online sizing chart. The customer service department was responsive and helpful in getting an exchange for a larger size.

Final Thoughts: Things To Consider For Your Suit

Price point and value were the main criteria in my choice of suit. In my opinion, the Nordic Legend Aurora Series came out on top. I felt that suit gave me the most bang for my buck.

I also liked the Nordic Legend Aurora Series suit’s high waterproofing and breathability capabilities. Occasionally, I find myself going on a late October/November muskie trip, and those days on the water can be wet and cold. Wearing my fishing suit has helped make those days on the water much more comfortable.

When ordering your suit, consider the fit; the manufacturer often recommends going up in size. There is additional bulk to a jacket and bib built with flotation foam.

The reviews I provided were based on personal online research and information obtained from manufacturers or sellers.
